       Memorial Day/ Mural dedication

Join us for the Remembrance Walk to honor the veterans who served in the military immediately following the ceremony at the ferry dock. This year we will

also feature a short ceremony to

dedicated the

outdoor mural

painted by island

artist, Holly Tourdot, 

on the back of the MIHPA office.

     Fourth of July Barbecue

Again this year MIHPA is joining with the Island Association to put on a barbecue on July 4th. This event will take place at the picnic shelter next to the Harry R. Nelson Recreation Center.  It is a fund-raiser for both the Island Association and MIHPA.

The event follows the ceremony that takes place on the green space in front of the Madeline Island Museum that follows the the parade. 

         Island Home Tour
Saturday, July 17, 2021
Join us for MIHPA's bi-annual island home tour. The home tour features a number of historic and beautiful homes on the island. Participants drive their own vehicles to various island residences on a scheduled tour. The old and new structures provide the participant a glimpse into the unique histories and innovative construction of these island residences. 

 

Codger Softball Game

Saturday, September 21

Join us for the annual Codger Game. Watch the island women's softball team take on the island men over 50 team. Come for the fun, food and peanuts, popcorn and more! Cheer on your favorite 

players. Held at the Rec Center

Ballfield.

 

     

 

 

 

 The Annual Hunters' Feast

Saturday, November 23rd

This fundraiser is sponsored by MIHPA and island hunting camps. The event includes a raffle, dinner and presentation of the Hunter of the Year trophy. Event is held at the Beach Club.

The 2019 house tour was a great success.  A big thank you to the families that allowed us to feature their homes, our wonderful volunteers,   and all of you who participated in the tour.

at the Heritage Center 

where Linda Mack, author of

Madeline Island Summer

Houses:  An Intimate Journey,'

gave a talk on the history of

the island's summer retreats.

 

                 

 

Memorial Day Celebration at the Veteran's Honor Garden, May 27th

Please join us immediately following the Memorial Day ceremony downtown, as we walk from the Town dock up

Colonel Woods Avenue to the

MIHPA Heritage Center.  We will

gather around the

Veteran's Honor Garden for a flag

raising ceremony, songs by the

summer choir and the laying of the

new pavers in the Honor Garden .

     At this year's celebration we dedicated the Winter Transportation mural painted on the back of the MIHPA office. We thank the WI Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the La Pointe Center for the Arts along with the Island Association and the Grutzner Madeline Island Fund, an affiliate of the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation for their support of this project.

     Light refreshments will be served.  Those who wish to order a garden paver with a veteran's name can sign up after the ceremony or visit the Book and Gifts page for order form.
